Problem: My Outside fan needs help to start, One push with a coat hanger to start. Is there a simple solution?
Answer: Since you can start the motor with a little push using a coat hanger I would think this might be a motor run capacitor problem, a motor winding problem or the motor bearings are tight. The motor winding problem and the motor bearing problem would require a new motor. The simplest and least expensive problem would be to test the capacitor and see if you need a new capacitor. If you do not have a capacitor tester then you might be able to take the capacitor to a small appliance repair shop and ask them to test it for you. If you would like for me to recommend a motor I would need the heat pump model number. I hope that all you need is a new capacitor and it is an inexpensive fix.
