Problem:
Your furnace will not ignite the gas to produce heat for your home. When a
furnace has a bad ignitor what I see most of the time is the following sequence
of operation:
1.
Thermostat calls for heat.
2.
Draft inducer motor starts.
3.
Pressure switch attached by a small plastic or rubber tube senses the negative
pressure produced by the draft inducer and closes.
4.
Draft inducer runs for 30 seconds to a minute before you hear a gas hissing
sound. The ignitor did not glow, the flame sensor (a small metal probe about
1/8" in diameter, with a white porcelain base) does not sense the flame, so
after 8 to 10 seconds the hissing sounds stops with no ignition of gas to heat
your home. Your furnace shuts down and goes into a lock out condition until you
turn your power switch back off and on again.
Solution:
Sorry, but you need to purchase and install a new ignitor.

that we
sell is an ignitor kit that replaces many International Comfort Products
furnaces such as Heil, Tempstar, and Comfortmaker. This ignitor kit is used on
furnaces with the beginning letters of their model number: GUA, GUG, GUH, GDA,
GDH, GDI and GNI. The Kit comes with one Norton 271NM Ignitor, metal adaptor
brackets, screws, and instructions. The part number of this kit is: 1096048.

The Honeywell Q3400A Ignitor-Flame Rod
Assembly is an exact OEM ignitor-flame rod assembly for Honeywell Smart Gas
Valves. Please see the Smart Valve gas valves we have for sale below. The Q3400A
Ignitor-Flame rod assembly replaces the original ignitor-flame rod assembly in
the Q3450, Q3620 and Q3480. Pilot Hardware used with the SV9500 and SV9600 "Smart Valve"
Systems. The Q3400A has a unique keyed plug connector that will only fit the
SV9500/SV9600 systems. Below are pictures of the Q3400A. This

installing ignitors never touch the gray glass part of the ignitor. Handle &
install the ignitor using the white porcelin part of the ignitor. If you touch
the gray glass, it could shorten the life of the ignitor. Ignitors are very
fragile. If you drop it or hit it against something the ignitor will easily
break. Please be careful.
